Nesta 2012: The Rise of Data Journalism

In 2011, Nesta, an independent charity that supports UK innovation, predicted data journalism would be the next great media frontier.

In 2012, they asked me to speak alongside Ian Hargreaves (Cardiff University), Antoine Laurent (Global Editors Network) and Tristan Ferne (BBC R&D).

I discussed the Guardian's ever-evolving approach to data journalism, the process involved in creating interactive content, and the various interfaces used to tell stories, from maps to timelines to interactives with big data.
